Trevogrumab

Regeneron's antibody against myostatin (GDF8) — the third horse in the muscle-preservation race. Being trialled alongside semaglutide, alone and paired with a second antibody, to keep weight loss from eating your muscle.

What people claim

Add it to a GLP-1 and the weight you lose is fat, not muscle.

Human evidence

Real but earliest-stage of the three. Trevogrumab has been through earlier human studies (including in sarcopenia), and Regeneron's phase 2 COURAGE trial pairs it with semaglutide — with reported interim results suggesting meaningfully better lean-mass preservation during GLP-1 weight loss. Interim phase 2 is the definition of 'promising, unproven': the full data and larger trials decide whether this holds.

Animal evidence

The same deep myostatin biology as its cousins — blocking GDF8 reliably grows muscle in animals. Regeneron's genetics-first approach is built on that pathway being one of the best-validated muscle targets in biology.

Risk flags

  • Long-term effects unknown
  • Unregulated / grey-market supply
  • Purity & quality unknowable
  • Banned in tested sport (WADA)

Regulatory status

US: Investigational. NOT FDA-approved; in phase 2 trials for muscle preservation during weight loss.

UK: Investigational; no MHRA authorisation.

Who says what

Gym Bros Say

"Regeneron's answer to Lilly's bimagrumab. Whoever wins, we get to keep our gains while cutting."

Reddit Says

Discussed mostly in 'GLP-1 muscle loss' threads as the third contender, usually alongside warnings that none of the three can be legitimately bought.

Big Pharma Says

Regeneron is explicitly chasing the muscle-preservation-plus-GLP-1 combination — including a trial arm that adds a second antibody (garetosmab, anti-activin A) on top. Big pharma believes in this category enough to run multi-antibody trials.

Science Actually Says

Grade C: earlier human studies plus encouraging interim phase 2 data in combination with semaglutide. Less published human evidence than bimagrumab or apitegromab so far — which is a statement about timing, not about the target.

PeptideStackers Says

Promising, early, and unobtainable — the trifecta that grey-market grifters love. Same warning as its cousins: a monoclonal antibody cannot come out of a peptide-synthesis lab, so 'trevogrumab for sale' is a scam by definition.

What we still don't know

  • ?The full COURAGE results — interim readouts can shift.
  • ?Whether preserved lean mass means preserved strength and function.
  • ?Long-term safety of chronic myostatin blockade, alone or with an activin blocker stacked on top.
  • ?How it compares head-to-head with bimagrumab and apitegromab (nobody has run that trial).

Real questions people ask

FAQ

What is trevogrumab?
A monoclonal antibody from Regeneron that blocks myostatin (GDF8), the protein that limits muscle growth. It's in phase 2 trials combined with semaglutide, aiming to preserve muscle during GLP-1 weight loss. It is not approved anywhere.
Trevogrumab vs bimagrumab — what's the difference?
Different targets on the same pathway: trevogrumab binds myostatin itself, bimagrumab blocks the receptor (ActRII) that myostatin and friends signal through. Blocking the receptor is the broader intervention. Nobody has compared them head-to-head in a trial.
Can you buy trevogrumab?
No — and be especially suspicious here. Antibodies require living-cell manufacturing and cold-chain handling that grey-market vendors simply do not have. Anything sold under this name is near-certainly not the real molecule.
